I'm in the EU - why am I being charged in US dollars at checkout??Updated 2 months ago
Due to global currency conversion rates, we need to list products shipping within some regions with the EU in US dollars.
This can affect the amount your bank will charge you due to the below:
- Exchange rate fluctuations: Banks use their own wholesale exchange rates, which are different from the live mid-market rates you might see online. These rates can vary daily, and in some cases hourly. If the USD/EUR exchange rate has recently seen changes recent, this will impact the final conversion.
- Timing of the conversion: The conversion from USD to EUR occurs when the transaction settles (1–3 business days after checkout), not at the moment of purchase. Any shift in the exchange rate during this time can change the euro amount.
- Bank fees: Many banks include a small foreign transaction or currency conversion fee (typically 2–4%), which is incorporated into the converted amount rather than shown separately.
Please note that products in France and Germany will still display as being sold in Euros.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] if you had any questions regarding this.
